How it works

A model that speaks, not a library of sounds.

Text to speech turns written text into spoken audio. Versa is a neural model that learned how people speak from recorded speech. It uses flow matching: each chunk of audio is generated in parallel rather than one token at a time, which is why it starts speaking fast and stays small: 91.4 million parameters in all.

  • Any voice, any languageA voice is a timbre, not a language: all ten voices speak all nine languages.
  • Your own voice3 to 30 seconds of speech becomes a new voice, with no training.
  • StreamingAudio arrives while the rest is still being made, over WebSocket or the SDKs.
  • Price$4.10 per million characters, prepaid, no plan.

FAQ

What is text to speech?

Text to speech (TTS) turns written text into spoken audio. A neural TTS model like Versa learns how people speak from recorded speech, so it reads with natural rhythm and intonation instead of stitching sounds together.

Which languages does Lokutor’s text to speech support?

Nine: Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, English, Portuguese, French, Italian and German. Every voice speaks every one of them.

How much does Lokutor’s text to speech cost?

$4.10 per million characters, billed per character from a prepaid balance, with no plan. New accounts get $5 of credit with no card.

How fast is it?

Streaming over the WebSocket API, the first audio arrives in a median of 65 ms on an open connection (about 200 ms for the first request on a new one), measured from inside our servers’ region on 10 October 2026. The rest streams while it plays.
